Cambodia 2020 - 27. Final massage at Karona Spa

27. Final massage at Karona Spa
Karona Spa

We tried to book a session at the Karona Spa on line and sent an email but received no response. So at 5.30 PM we just took a tuk-tuk to go and visit. We were told their internet was down… Hmm I could get on line when I was there.

We asked for our ‘usual’ which means I asked for my strong Khmer massage and Carol asked for a gentle Aroma Therapy.

What we received was almost brutal. While Carol at one point jerked her foot out of the masseuses’ grip, I held still when elbows dug into my spine. It was not pleasurable, it was not fun and we are not going back to Karona Spa.

Somehow we received neophytes or experts, I cannot tell, but it hurt.
Even the next day I was still sore.

That’s how it goes if you cannot speak the language. Somehow we misunderstood the strength level of the massage. Ouch!

After this torture we went next door for dinner.

I believe it was called The Cambodian Kitchen, but now I am not sure, it was a fancy place by Cambodian standards and the food was good. Carol received her BBQ pork ribs, and I, who ordered pork chops, received a lamb chop. Again, it must have been a miss someplace. Do a lamb chop and a pork chop look alike? Maybe to Cambodians they do look similar!  Again, I did not complain, I
ate it but it was not what I asked for.

            Bananas Flambé

Desserts were flambéed bananas. It was a show piece, with high flames created by the chef when he prepared it for us.

All and all an OK day, but miscommunication cannot always be avoided.
