Doing the Tourist Thing

It was fun to return to Ushuaia, the place felt familiar. What I did forget was that the town was built on a hill. Phew! There is lots of uphill walking.

We just wandered about; there were no major changes from the last time we were here.

We did the tourist stuff……. walked from one souvenir shop to the next.

Front and Side of the Galeria Tematica
Most of the Work Was Done By Prisoners
One of those shops had a Galeria Tematica, an ‘early settlers’ mock up in the front and side of the building as well as behind their building. We took some pictures of how it used to be.

Prisoners Worked on Building the Railroad

Jean and Ross walked with us for a while but they had a schedule, had to find something besides the internet we were looking for, so we separated.

We spent a few hours on the ‘Main’ Street of Ushuaia but then I went back to the ship for lunch and Carol went out again to find stuff for her grandchildren.
Beautiful Hand-Knit Sweaters

Carol, on her way back just ‘had to’ buy some local Rhodochrosite Jewelry, (it was calling to me) the National Stone of Argentina said to give energy and a talisman for joy and healing.

Pictoral History of Ushuaia

The re-visit to Ushuaia was a day which put a smile on my face. I felt I knew the town and did not have to take any tours or excursions. Ushuaia felt familiar, it was good being back.
