Winter 2019 - TAS. 9 Mona - The End (Part A)

Nudes

I have yet to be in an Art museum where there are no nudes. I think artists love the human body. It is the ultimate subject; there is a never ending view and angle.
Blue Nude
For men especially, women are a mystery. The curves on every woman are like art, so naturally it needs to be expressed. Nike made a logo out of a ‘swoosh’ but it’s nothing compared all swooshes women have. Here are some nudes and more from the Mona Museum in Hobart.

A Wall of Female Genitalia
You cannot really tell from this perspective but there were a whole gallery of female genitalia shown along a long wall. I guess this artist really needed to show off, I wonder if he knew all these women intimately.

People Are Walking Along the Dark Path Even Though the Floor Is Much Wider

Shadows are important. One section of the art gallery was all about how the light flows in. there were many examples, but also a studio set up where a curator showed the public how it is done.

Color and Light Influence Perception of Space
Binary Code

The new medium for artists is the digital approach. All based on the binary code, one section led to the beginning of the ages where I had to follow a maze to see these seven zeros and ones.

Created From Binary Codes
But out of these simple zeros or ones we have today multi-screens like this:

The ideas in the Mona Museum were astounding. Look at this picture.
A Small Part of a Whole Wall With Similar Designs
It’s the same basic shape, just painted differently each and every time. When you step back it is a whole wall full and you can see there are light and dark sections.

Then, when you look at the whole room you can see there is a deeper meaning behind this ‘art’. So, just a bit of change in just one aspect changes the whole, depending how it is viewed, how it is arranged.

Supposed to be a Pelvis?

Cloaca:  I don’t know what to say to that one. Is this art?
I let you read the notes, then just follow each picture…. The end result is….shit!
1. Read In Order

2. More Strange Ramblings

3.  Strangest of All

Over-Sized Wheels?

Bicycles:   At one point in the Mona Museum I was asked to draw a bicycle, I was given a piece of plain paper and a pencil. “Just draw a bicycle” the guy said, so I sat down and drew one. I kind of ‘knew’ what was coming, because that is a test I gave my ‘artists’ when I had my design studio in NYC. It is not easy drawing a bicycle, try it once.

Unusual Frame
The idea is, of course, to show that when you take something literally you get some kind of weird gizmo that most of the time does not work. Case in point is all those bicycles were made according to the drawings some people made.

No Pedals? Chain? Powered by Will Power
Could you do a better job drawing a bicycle?  What would ‘your’ bike look like if it were ‘produced’?
What Is It?

I had to look twice:   From far away it is not that obvious I had to go closer to see that this is. Do you like them?  Water filled plastic bags!
Now, if I had this exhibition, I would put a goldfish in one of the bags.
 Just because!

Pulleys Powered by Outside Weather Vane
Everybody can be an artist:   These circles were drawn by the wind. Literally! Using a few gears, a weather vane on the outside, some belts and pulleys and lots and lots of pens, voila… art!  Looks pretty neat, right? Nobody could draw all those fine lines like that, but the wind did it.
