Callao, Day 2 77F (25C)
All
aboard is 5.30 PM today. I am a bit pokey in the morning and it was 10 AM
before Carol and I decided where to go today.
We
originally thought about visiting the Gold Museum of Lima, about 2 hours away
from the ship but after speaking with some folks who took this tour yesterday,
we decided to forgo any excursion.
I
believe this latest part of the cruise gives me time to be an introvert. All
those sea days gives me time to look at myself instead of focusing on stuff
outside my ego. Ah, the psychology of one’s self. I took notes and wrote stuff like:
This has been a
‘self’ discovery rather than a trip of what is to see ‘out’ there.
Is the feeling
of ‘sameness’ bothering me, is it getting to me?
Am I getting
too sedentary?
Am I getting too
cozy with myself?
What am I
looking for in a cruise, on a cruise?
Am I getting
jaded? -Old? -Lazy?
The Maasdam on It's 900th Voyage |
Those are things that pass through my head while I watched the Maasdam, a cruise ship from the Holland American line get docked near us. And then right after that, a container ship, followed by another whatnot huge ship. All were being pushed by tug boats, and lines were secured by the longshoremen to the moorings. A bit of an orchestrated mayhem, but while it seems chaotic, it works like clockwork. The whole process of docking is interesting to watch, mesmerizing.
Carol ‘won’ a
James Bond Quiz. Amazing the trivia one remembers. Her prize was a makeup
pouch, a key chain and a mini pen. Yeehaa!
The ‘mentalist’
Wayne Hoffman was the man of the hour (45 minutes) at night.
We had to
stand, no room in the theater.
