Crossing 80F (26C)
Humberto seems to be the man for the job here. His knowledge of the Panama Canal is called upon. The destination lecture this morning was packed, everybody wanted to

At the end of his presentation, we watched some of the footage that the few people who went through the ship’s excursion program to Machu Picchu brought back. Machu Picchu was a totally separate arrangement made through the ship and was very expensive. It was not part of our booked trip. The pictures shown right after the destination lecture were good shots but reminded me a little of an advertisement.
Then
we had another lecture given by Humberto about Cartagena, Colombia, one of our
upcoming stops on this voyage.
Now
a report about Carol:
She
has now studied, almost daily, her gemology at Effy’s. Today Effy had a test. Spread
out under glass were 5 “emeralds”, could you find the ‘fake’ emerald? I
went and studied the 5 stones, knowing one was not real….
Ah…It’s
not that easy…the fakes are really sophisticated………. we both failed to identify
the imitation. Back to school, Carol!
No
theater tonight, we ate alone, no company.
